Hampstead Organic OoLong
If you are looking for a new tea experience, Hampstead's Oolong may be just ideal. Described as "sensational", it restores equilibrium at any time of the day. The freshly picked leaves are only partially fermented, leaving them large and flavorful. Brimming with polyphenols, our Oolong has antioxidant and health protecting properties. Flavorful, yet mellow, it has a deliciously fruity peach finish.
Only a small quantity of Oolong is produced each year. It is grown at Makaibari, the first biodynamic tea estate in the world, situated 3-4000 ft high up in the Himalayas. The estate is protected on all sides by lush virgin rainforests and is the home and livelihood to a community of 1700 people, a family of panthers and richly diverse wildlife.

Biodynamic farming is a very special holistic form of organic farming, founded in the 1920's,and practised worldwide. It is often described as "organic plus" as each farm is unique and self-sustaining, in balance with soil, plant, animal and cosmic processes. Biodynamic farmers use specially formulated energising herbal compost preparations and a lunar calender to help them determine when to sow and harvest.
The Fairtrade mark guarantees international standards for fair and socially responsible trade with producers in developing countries. The price we pay to our tea estates includes a premium which is used by the community for social, economic, educational and medical improvements.
Why Should You Choose Hampstead Tea?
The world has been enjoying tea for more than 5,000 years. But only since 1995 has biodynamic, fair-trade certified tea been available. That year in Hampstead, a famous London hillside village known as a breeding ground for progressive ideas, Hampstead Tea began.
The majority of our tea comes from the Makaibari estate in India’s Darjeeling province. It is the world’s first certified biodynamic estate and the last owner-managed estate in the district. Here, 66% of the acreage is undisturbed rainforest where tea grows in harmony with the area’s natural ecological system.
Enjoy. Allow one level teaspoon of tea per person. Pour on freshly boiled water and infuse for up to 3 minutes. Add milk and sugar to taste if desired. Or, add a slice of lemon and try iced.
Fairtrade black leaf tea, natural oil or bergamot.
All ingredients are biodynamic and organic.
In keeping with our philosophy, our teas are free from all artificial additives and gmos.
