This certified organic blend of the two most popular echinacea species: The Certified Organic Echinacea purpurea and organic Echinacea angustifolia are carefully grown on our organic farm. The herbs are harvested at their most potent and processed to retain the beneficial constituents.
Since the era of the Eclectics, herbalists have known that all good quality Echinacea products cause a mild tingling sensation in the mouth. This is now known to be due to the alkylamides which are recognized for their biological effect on the immune system.
Background and Use:
This herb was used by many Native American populations throughout the United States. This widespread use was adopted by the Eclectic physicians in the U.S. and its use was documented in medical texts until 1947. A German pharmaceutical manufacturer imported E. purpurea to Germany in the 1930s. Since then, German and American scientists have been researching the clinical usefulness of the herb with an emphasis on supporting the immune system. This herb is popular both in Europe and in the US. As a result of many clinical trials that were done in the 1990's Echinacea sales account for approximately 10% of the dietary supplement market. Many clinical trials are still being conducted today.
