Ellagic acid is a phenolic (antioxidant) compound found in many fruits, with highest concentrations in meeker red raspberries. It is comprised of powerful antioxidants that have been shown to support many positive functions of cellular activity. Clinical studies are also showing ellagic acid may be a potent anti-carcinogenic/ anti-mutagenic compound and that it also may have anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.
Additional Information about Ellagic acid
Unlike normal cells, cancerous cells do not die. Instead, they regenerate exponentially until they become problematic to your body. Research has shown ellagic acid may promote the natural (apoptic) death of these cells.
Studies show ellagic acid may act as a scavenger to "bind" cancer-causing chemicals, making them inactive and it may inhibit the ability of other chemicals to cause mutations in bacteria. In addition, ellagic acid from red raspberries may prevent binding of carcinogens to DNA, and may reduce the incidence of cancer in cultured human cells exposed to carcinogens
Research performed at the Hollings Cancer Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina and other health organizations found that ellagic acid:
-
is one of the most promising chemopreventive compounds
- has antioxidant, antibacterial, antimutagenic, anticarcinogenic, antiviral and hepatoprotectant properties
- provides protection against chromosomal damage produced by UV radiation
- promotes apoptic growth (natural death) of cervical cancer cells
has similar effects on breast, pancreas, esophageal, skin, colon, leukemia and prostate cancer cells
- promotes wound healing
(Our product delivers the same concentration used in this study = 450 ppm)
We manufacture Ellagic Acid Extract capsules using a proprietary cold-press method which preserves the bioavailability (ability to be used by the body) and concentration of ellagic acid and other phenolics from red raspberries.
