Summary of Modern Studies on Shanze Jianfei (Slim Trimmer™) Capsule

Chinese Use: Simple obesity.

In traditional Chinese Medicine, it is claimed that obese body is mainly due to phlegmatic dampness, mostly occur on the basis of addiction to greasy and spicy foods, injuring the spleen-stomach, the results being dysfunction of transportation. Thus, dampness accumulates and transforms into phlegm stagnated in the interior part. As a result of long stagnation, the function of spleen-stomach becomes deficient, the qi and blood are also in deficiency, blood is stagnated and becomes static blood. Hence, the principle for activating blood and resolving blood stasis, soothing the chest, hence, slimming can be acquired.

In this recipe, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae is bitter-sweet-warm, pertains to the spleen-stomach channels, capable of invigorating qi, strengthening the spleen, drying dampness, and is a diuretic. It is used as the monarchal ingredient. Radix Stephaniae tetrandrae is bitter-pungent-cold, pertains to the bladder, kidney and spleen channels, capable of descending downward, eliminating dampness and diuretic. Herba Artemisiae scopariae is bitter-cold, pertains to the spleen-stomach liver-gallbladder channels, capable of expelling damp-heat in the spleen-stomach. Rhizoma Alismatis is sweet-plain-cold, pertains to the kidney and bladder channel, capable of expelling damp and heat. The above ones are used to strengthen the action of Rhizoma Atractylodes Macrocephalae to transform phlegmatic dampness and transport essence. Radix Salviae miltiorrhizae is bitter-cold, capable of activating blood, cooling blood, resolving stasis; Radix Ligustici chuanxiong is pungent-warm, capable of activating blood and qi. Both pertain to the liver channel, the latter is also called “a medicine of qi in blood”. Cornu Bubali is salty-cold, pertains to the heart-liver-stomach channels, capable of clearing heat, cooling blood. Radix et Rhizoma Rhei preparata is bitter-cold, capable of activating blood and resolving stasis, sweeping stagnation, also pertains to the liver channel. The above 4 strengthen the action of activating blood and qi, resolving stasis, soothing the chest, eliminating stagnation, and act with the other 4 as the ministerial ingredients. Herba Epimedii is pungent-sweet-warm, pertains to the liver-kidney channels, capable of warming the kidney, reinforcing yang, eliminating wind-dampness. It is applied to warm the kidney yang and assist all the above ingredients to strengthen the spleen for better transportation. Fructus Crataegi is sour-sweet-warm, pertains to the spleen-stomach-liver channels, capable of promoting digestion, activating qi, dispersing stasis. It also strengthens the spleen-stomach function, activating qi, soothing the chest, eliminating stagnation. Both are served as servant ingredients. The recipe is applied to reinvigorating qi, strengthening the spleen, activating blood, resolving stasis, soothing the chest, and eliminating stagnation.

Modern pharmacological studies show that the Radix Rhei is capable of catharsis and lowering blood lipid. The extract or its alcohol extract lowers experimental hypercholesterolemia. Herba Artemisia scoporiae, Cornu Bubali, Fructus Crataegi also lowers blood lipid level. The 6,7-methoxy coumarin also inhibits the NE, 5-hydroxy tryptophan, histamine and antispasm of vessel smooth muscle due to angiotensin Ц, increase cerebral blood flow, lowers blood lipids. Fructus Craetegi lowers the serum cholesterol and β-lipoprotein in rabbit. Alcohol extract from hawthorn kernel markedly lowers serum cholesterol in quail, lowers the precipitation of cholesterol and cholesterol ester in the arterial wall. Cornu Bubali powder mildly lowers the serum cholesterol, and lightly increases the HDL. Rhizoma Atractylodes macrocephalae and Rhizoma Ligustici chuanxiong inhibit the evacuation of the stomach, decrease its absorption. Acetone extract of Rhizoma Atractylodes macrocephalae inhibit the evacuation of rat’s stomach, also inhibit the transportation of the small intestine. Tanshinone in Radix Salviale multiorrhizae regulates the endocrine system. Herba Epimedii, Radix Astragali seu Hedysari stimulate the immunity of the organism. In short, this product treats simple obesity through preventing or lowering and emptying of the stomach and decreasing absorption.
