Summary of Modern Studies on Shenqi Shengxue (RegeneratorMate™) Capsule

Chinese Use: Convalescence after radiation-therapy and chemotherapy for cancer.

Modern studies on pharmacodynamics reveal that this product yields actions of anti-tumor, improving immunity of the organism.

1. Anti-tumor: Ele’s ascitis carcinoma model is produced in mice. The chemotherapeutic group is treated with MMCI 1.5mg/kg/time, twice weekly injected peritoneally. Decoction of this product (1g crude drug/ml), 0.5ml for gastric perfusion. Results reveal that the group of chemotherapeutic plus this product has a remarkedly prolonged survival time. However, no difference can be observed in changes on the tumor weight.

2. Improvement of immunity: 242 cases of tumor of deficient spleen type were treated with this product one dose daily for 2~3 months as a therapeutic course. After treatment, the phagocytosis of macrophage, rate of transformation of lymphocytes, the killing potential of TH cell in T cell subgroup and NK cell were markedly improved, indicating the improvement of patients’ immunity.

Clinically, this product was applied in stomach carcinoma, intermediate and late stages.

81 cases were assigned to 2 groups, viz. the group of chemotherapeutics plus this product and the group of chemotherapeutic alone. This product was given in solution, 1 dose daily, divided into 2 portions, each in the morning and evening, with 6 weeks as a course. Those cases that can receive a complete course of chemotherapy after surgery and those that did not receive surgery but did receive chemotherapy until effects revealed were regarded as effective, the reverse were regarded as non-effective. In the former group, 61 cases out of 64 were effective when comparing the body weight, WBC, platelet, serum gastrin, phagocytic activity of macrophage, transformation rate of lymphocyte, plasma immune-globulin, absorption test of xylose in the small intestine and the untoward reaction of chemotherapy, before and after the treatment, the result in the former group revealed less and milder toxic reactions. No obvious lowering of phagocytosis can be found. The function of platelet can be well protected so that platelet counts were increased, other indices like transformation rate of lymphocytes, immune globulin, WBC count showed no obvious difference. For long-term effect, the former group revealed an average survival time of 3.188 years; the latter, 1.12 yrs. 37 cases survived for 3 years in the former group; 22 cases for 5 yrs; while those 17 cases in the latter group, the cases were 3 and 1 respectively, with significant difference.
