Summary of modern studies on Qianlie Qing(Prostate Clean™) Capsule

Chinese Use: Hyperplasia of prostate, chronic prostatitis.

This recipe is indicated in frequent and urgent micturition, painful micturition, gonorrhea, hypo-sexuality, impotence and premature ejaculation. The treating principle should be benefit the kidney recovering sexuality, activating blood stasis, promoting urination, clearing heat and detoxification.

In this recipe, Caulis Akebiae, Herba Polygoni avicularis are capable of promoting urination and fluid excretion; clearing damp-heat; Cornu Cervi pantotrichum, Herba Epimedii, Semen Cuscutae are sweet-warm, capable of invigorating kidney yin, both can benefit the kidney, clearing heat to promote urination, serving as main (monarchal) ingredient and ministerial ingredient. Rhizome Polygoni cuspidate is bitter cold, capable of clearing heat, activating blood flow, eliminating hemostasis and expelling dampness. When it is used with Herba Hedyotis diffusae, Cortex Phellodendri, it strengthens the action of clearing heat, drying dampness and detoxification. When applied with Lumbricus and Semen Vaccariae, the action of dredging the collaterals, activating blood, diuresis and eliminating turbid dampness can be strengthened. Fructus Schisandrae is sour, capable of astringing the semen. Its sweet warm nature can benefit the kidney and lung. The lung is pertaining to ventilation of Qi, and regulating the water passages. When used with Fructus Schisandrae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, the action of invigorating Qi can be strengthened. Since the fluid and blood are activated when Qi is flowing, the action of activation of blood and promotion of urination are strengthened. Poria is in itself a diuretic, when applied with Semen Raphani, it helps the spleen to regulate the stomach. Scolopendra is pungent-warm, strengthens the action of dredging collaterals and analgesia. When used together with Herba Hedyotis diffusae and Radix Glycyrrhizae, it strengthens the action of clearing heat and detoxifcation, eliminating dampness and promoting urination. Radix Glycyrrhizae also harmonizes all ingredients in the recipe; hence, they are applied together as adjuvant and servant ingredients. The comprehensive action of the recipe is reinforcing the kidney to recover sexual function, activating blood stasis, promoting urination, clearing heat and detoxification.

Modern studies on pharmacodynamics show that Pheretima is a diuretic, capable of anti-trichomones vaginalis. Poria and Herba Polygoni avicularis are also diuretic. When celiac injection of Poria extract is given, it yields diuresis, the mechanism of which is being inhibiting the Na+ re-absorption in renal tubules. Decoction and extract of Herba Polygoni avicularis are administrated subcutaneously or by gastric perfusion in rat, marked diuresis action is produced, which may be relate to its potassium salt it contains. Intravenous injection of glycoside of Polygoni avicularis or by gastric perfusion also reveals marked diuresis action in rat. Herba Epimedii reveals action like hormone. 20-40mg of its extract is injected; the action of weight gaining in elevator anal muscle and spermatophore is similar with that of 7.5mg androgen. When processed with the sebum oil, it markedly increases the sexual function. The Ginseng and Radix Astragali are all capable of increasing immunity and anti-senility. The concentrated action of this product is diuresis, promoting sexual function, hence, cures chronic prostatitis and the symptoms caused by this disorder.
